Established in 1968, Holland and Knight is ranked as the 36th biggest law firm in the world, offering representation services in business, governmental law, real estate as well as litigation. Regardless of the location, the firm’s interdisciplinary practice associations and business-centered groups authorize clients with access to lawyers through the firm.
Apart from being a law firm, Holland and Knight is also involved in philanthropy. The law firm’s charity giving is handled by the Holland and Knight Charitable Foundation, which was formed in 1996 as a 501(c)(3) public charity. Sponsored through donations by the firm, consisting of its lawyers, staff members and external sources, the organization supports numerous distinguished programs that focus on education.
Operated by volunteers, the firm’s Opening Doors for Children program serves as a teaching and mentoring initiative for thousands of kids and education establishments within the United States. In addition, Holland and Knight backs numerous essay competitions for students in high school. These include The Young Native Writers Essay Contest and The Holocaust Remembrance Project.
The Young Native Writers is a writing competition developed for high school students who are Native American. The contest intends to influence authentic portrayals of the significance of the history of the Native American culture.
The Holocaust Remembrance Project, however, is a statewide essay competition for high school to students to help promote the study of the Holocaust. Each year, the event concludes with scholarships to contest winners as well as free trips to Washington D.C.
