Unilever is an international business corporation that has several globally distributed consumer product brands such as cleaning agents, beverages, personal care necessities, and foods. Unilever PLC holds its main office at the Unilever House in London. It also has an office in Merseyside, which is in the North West area of England.

This multinational corporation actually consists of several companies like Unilever PLC in the United Kingdom and Unilever NV in The Netherlands.

Unilever was founded in 1930 by the merger of the operations of Lever Brothers (a British soapmaker) and Margarine Unie (a producer of Dutch margarine). The merger proved to be a success for both parties since each of their raw materials contributed to the improvement of their products, as well as to the creation of more products, mostly through acquisitions.

In May 2007, Unilever became the first tea company to entrust its tea in efficient and green-friendly methods, employing the Non-Government Organization Rainforest Alliance to certify its tea estates in East Africa.

In 2010, one of the main goals of Unilever is to make sure that all Lipton Yellow Label and PG Tips tea bags sold in Western Europe are certified. This will be followed by all Lipton tea bags, which will be sold globally, by the year 2015.
