The private investment firm Sun Capital Partners focuses mainly on equity debt, leveraged buyouts, as well as on other investments in market leading companies. The firm has several offices all over the globe. It maintains operations in Los Angeles CA, New York NY, Boca Raton FL, Shenzhen, China and London.
The firm was established in 1995. Since then, it has invested in and managed more than 145 companies all over the world, reaching a total of $35.0 billion in sales. The Sun Capital Partners’ portfolio companies includes a number of nationally and regionally recognized companies such as the Boston Market, Bruegger’s, Marsh Supermarkets, Exopack, Wickes Furniture, Fazoli’s Restaurants, Mervyn’s department stores and more.
The Sun Capital Markets announced its acquisition of Indianapolis’ Marsh Supermarkets in 2006. The Marsh Supermarkets is known as the owner and operator of 162 Village Pantry convenience stores. At the time of Sun’s acquisition, Marsh had 128 supermarkets and food stores. A year after acquiring Marsh, the firm purchased a majority of interest in American Standard Americas, a plumbing fixture company. Apart from this, the firm also acquired majority interest in a Nebraska based department store called Gordmans in 2008.
The Sun Capital Partners owns majority control over numerous other companies such as the Anchor Blue Clothing Company and the Berkline BenchCraft, among others. The Anchor Blue Retail Group is a clothing retailer based in Ontario, California. It owns more than 200 stores all over the western parts of US and Florida. The Anchor Blue Clothing Company, which is also known as the Anchor Blue Retail Group, is currently planning to expand its operations towards the Georgia market.
In addition to this, Sun Capital also owns a minority share in several other companies including the Dale and Thomas Popcorn, Easy Gardener Products, GMAC Financial Services and BlueLinx Holdings.
