The private equity firm Oak Investment Partners is based in Westport, Connecticut. The firm focuses mainly on venture capital investments in companies involved with the development of information technology, healthcare services, communication systems, new Internet media and retail.

The firm places their investments in various stages. They operate by funding spinouts of existing assets and divisions, funding startup companies, as well as offering growth capital to later-stage companies. Additionally, the Oak Investment Partners also invests in certain public companies via PIPE investments. It invested more than $20 million in Huffington Post’s online media outlet last December 2008.

In addition to its headquarters in Westport, Connecticut, the firm also maintains offices in Palo Alto and Minneapolis. The Oak Investment Partners private equity firm was established in 1978. Since then, the firm has made investments in over 480 companies. Apart from this, the firm has also managed to raise roughly around $8.4 billion in investor commitments all over 12 private equity funds. In May 2006, the firm was able to raise its 12th and largest venture capital fund at $2.56 billion.
