The Adams Resources Marketing Ltd operates as a wholesale purchaser and a distributor of natural gas. This subsidiary purchases natural gas at the standard producer level and distributes an estimated 400 million cubic feet of natural gas daily. As for the company’s Ada Resources Inc, this subsidiary is in charge of marketing both branded and unbranded refined petroleum products such as motor fuels and other lubricants.

The company’s GulfMark Energy on the other hand, focuses on buying crude oil and arranging sales and deliveries to numerous refiners. The group basically acquires its crude oil from a few independent producers in Michigan, Louisiana and Texas. The group manages to purchase around 65,000 barrels daily. Aside from that, GulfMark also maintains more than 50 pipeline inventory locations and operates 113 tractor-trailer units. The company is also capable of barging oil from more than five storage facilities scattered all over the inter-coastal waterway of Louisiana and Texas. To top it all off, GulfMark also maintains approximately 200,000 barrels of storage capacity at several dock facilities. Maintaining this amount of storage capacity allows the company to access several waterborne markets for its products.

The company’s operations were established in 1947 by KS “Bud” Adams Jr., who remains as the company’s current chief executive officer and chairman.
